Cordillera is famous for its mountains. There are three major mountain ranges in the region: the Rocky Mountains, the Columbia Mountains, and the Coastal Mountains. Also, many deep valleys, plateaus, and coastal islands are found in this region. Many parts of Cordillera, unlike some other regions, Cordillera is still covered in forests. Many of the region's lakes and rivers are famous and just so beautiful. And of course, Pacific Ocean is on the west side of this region. British Columbia's total land and freshwater area is 95 million hectares, which is larger than the nations of France and Germany put together. BC occupies about 10 percent of Canada's land surface.

All of these beautiful mountains, beaches and lakes attract millions of tourists each year. That explains the ten percent of Bc areas set aside for environmental protection and 280 protected parks!
